As in many retail environments, the Liverpool Guild of Students was facing delays in processing consumer requests and carrying out simultaneous card payment transactions across the tills as a result of slow bank rented credit and debit card terminals. With growing consumer traffic, queues resulting from increased frequency of visits and incorrect manual entries of amounts were leading to customer dissatisfaction.
