First Data Corp.
plans to bring 250 jobs to metro Atlanta as it relocates its global headquarters back to the Peach State.

The new jobs, which will be added over three years, will support product development work, First Data spokeswoman Elizabeth Grice said.

The global payment processor’s return to Atlanta was logical.  While First Data was officially based in Greenwood Village, Colo., the majority of the company's operations have been headquartered in Atlanta. First Data’s top management, including its CEO and CFO, are based in the city, where the company employs about 750, Grice noted. Considering “we have an establishment of a core group of executives and business leaders in Atlanta,” she said, “ it made sense for us to make the change.”  Atlanta is also a hub for the payments industry and home to many of First Data customers, Grice said.
